Como Charcoal Sculptural Kitchen

A study in sculptural form, natural stone and highly technical craftsmanship, this exceptional kitchen features a faceted curved island and rangehood crafted from Como Charcoal Limestone.

The complex geometry of both, the island and rangehood required specialist stone fabrication, with multiple curves, angles and junctions carefully resolved to create a cohesive architectural form. The natural movement and tonal variation of the limestone continue across the surface, allowing the character of the stone to flow seamlessly around the island rather than being interrupted by its intricate shape.

Projects of this nature benefit from bringing Artisan Stone into the design process early. Complex natural stone fabrication requires careful consideration of slab selection, stone movement, vein direction, templates, joins and construction details before fabrication begins. Working collaboratively with architects, designers, builders and joiners allows the stonework to be considered as an integral part of the architecture from the outset.

Como Charcoal Limestone brings depth and understated drama to the kitchen, with its rich charcoal tones and natural variation complementing the sculptural form of the island. The finished piece demonstrates what is possible when exceptional natural stone is paired with ambitious design and specialist architectural stone fabrication.

Artisan Stone specialises in the supply, fabrication and installation of natural stone for high-end residential and architectural projects throughout the South Island. From sculptural kitchen islands and bespoke stonework to detailed architectural applications, we work closely with architects, interior designers, builders, joiners and homeowners to bring considered stone designs to life.
